In this episode of the Inventory Nation Podcast, I am absolutely delighted and honored to be joined with Marcy Thrash, CVT! Marcy is the Program Director for Project V.E.T.S. She manages all of the inventory that comes in and goes out of the warehouse, communicates with all of the recipient groups, oversees warehouse staff and volunteers and helps with a wide range of other jobs. Project V.E.T.S. is a huge part of Marcy’s life. Their mission reflects her own beliefs; being kind to our environment and saving animals.
When she is not at Project V.E.T.S., Marcy owns and operates a therapeutic pet massage practice and works part-time for a small animal practice in Niwot, CO. She loves hiking, camping, live music and romping around with her three dogs, Hazel, Gus and Bruce. She welcomed her beautiful daughter, Robin, to this world in January and is having a blast being a mom!
Join Project V.E.T.S. on Saturday, October 17th, for their FREE virtual fundraising benefit that will include the comedy of Dr. Kevin Fitzgerald, DVM (of Emergency Vets fame), video shorts from our animal welfare recipient organizations, an online auction and special Zoom Rooms! MARCY’S ADVICE FOR OTHER INVENTORY MANAGERS
During our conversation, Marcy shares her advice with other inventory managers: “Never give up an opportunity. So if somebody presents you with an opportunity to do anything new, where you will learn a skill that you don’t have… just take it. I didn’t know how to do the ordering and I was scared because nobody wanted to do it. I thought to myself, “why does no one want to do it? This makes me nervous. Why am I the one who has to do it?”. Now that I did just take the opportunity to learn that new skill, it’s brought me very far. I now work for a non-profit organization, helping more animals all over the world, than I ever thought that I would. Not just animals, but people. For a lot of groups, this is their life’s work. This is what they have committed themselves and their entire life to; starting these organizations to help animals and people in their area. So by taking on that one new opportunity, that one new skill, I have accomplished my life goal; which is to help people all over the world. My advice would be to not pass by anything; take the opportunity if it presents itself.”
ABOUT PROJECT V.E.T.S.
Project V.E.T.S. is a Boulder, Colorado based 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to improving the health and welfare of animals around the world. From Project V.E.T.S.; “we achieve this goal by collecting veterinary equipment, technology and supplies (V.E.T.S.) from veterinary hospitals, veterinary colleges, human hospitals, medical equipment and supply manufacturers, other non-profit organizations and individuals. These donated items are then distributed worldwide to veterinarians working in non-profit or non-governmental organizations devoted to animal health. In this way, we not only help the animals of the planet, but we also conserve valuable resources that might otherwise end up in a landfill.”
